Montreal is fast, with a million sticks and coated in diamonds.

Our Texas style ice storm certainly changed things.

The new tracks on Montreal are a mixture of chopped up ice, ice fall on the trail and a couple of inches of new snow. The tracks are fast; but, surprisingly the stem lanes are pretty forgiving.

That helps.

There are also numerous trees bent over the trail from the ice load they captured. Some of them are head high and, if you don’t watch out, will poke you in the eye. So keep your head up and look ahead. Those ice-overs will eventually un load and straighten up. We don’t know exactly when that will happen. Maybe while we’re still skiing.

On the other hand, every turn, every change in aspect will show you another unique picture of winter in crystal, diamond beauty. Don’t miss it.
